long time, no post

I needed a long, relaxing weekend — and I got it! There was of course the meal to end all meals [I've decided it's not any one dish that I love, but all of them together on one plate at one time -- ohhh, the gratitude it inspires me.] Got to go on a date with my husband, to the ultimate chick flick, Pride and Prejudice. I found this most recent version to be a mostly accurate and time-sensitive alternative to the five-hour video version. I also accompanied Trey and Taft to Chicken Little whilst Dad and the older boys took on Harry Potter. Enjoyed slow mornings, a couple of long walks and a really good jog. Geof put up the living-room tree and lighted it, so all I had to do was finish it off. Still have lots of decorating to do, but am going to take my time. Set up my favorite nativity — I love it because it looks like carved wood or porcelin, but it’s rubber and totally kid-friendly. Just went online and ordered a camel, a donkey and some sheep  — I haven’t added any pieces for a couple of years. Had a great bigpicture meeting  — we’re putting together a bigpicture weekend for retail stores — which is going to be a lot of fun — I’ll keep you posted on that. We should have some initial class descriptions up by weeks-end [cross your fingers!] Met again with Michelle — an adorable and very helpful designer, who’s been helping us make selections for the home we are building. I picked out the floor for my new scrapbook studio. It’s going to be that industrial rubber stuff with circles in it [can you picture it?] I’ll post a photo sometime soon.
Taft_and_snowmanWoke up this morning to SNOW — and what a magical thing it is. Trey ran right outside barefoot. Needless to say, he was back inside rather quickly. Taft and I just made a mini snowman that stands on the picnic table on our deck. I’m always surprised how little time it takes to make a child happy. I still got the laundry started, the kitchen and bathroom cleaned and some of the vacuuming done. Now I’m off to Walmart to pick up photos and my yearly stock-up on mittens and gloves.

Good luck with your million-things-to-do-Monday!

  10. I was on that million things to do monday list myself until all HECK broke loose and my day went to the birds. *sigh* I think we need Monday to be a day of rest from Sunday in which you are supposed to rest from the other 5 days of the week? RIGHT?

  11. How FUN is your little snowman! Out in here in sunny CA, we had a BLISTERY cold day.. it was.. get this.. 62 degrees in the store! BRRRRR!
Your books arrived at the store today… and I cannot WAIT to sit on my couch in front of my fire (yes, it may not snow but when it gets under 70 degrees we have a fire!) and devour this book.. you ROCK!

I love your nativity. Have seen the Fisher Price one? It is available at http://www.fisherprice.com. It is from the Little People collection and totally fabulous for $30.00. It is my standard “Baby’s First Christmas” gift. My daughter who is almost 6 still loves it. My son who is 8 months thinks it tastes really neat! ;)

  13. I got my copy of THE BIG PICTURE yesterday. Stayed up until almost midnight reading and thinking about what you are getting across. I am guilty of not putting enough of myself in my scrapbooking and also feeling guilty about not being current. Can’t wait to give a few ideas a try. If you get a chance check out my blog, I have some pictures of a mini-album that I created in the my pix section. I am not sure how to give you a link to it but if you click on my name it will take you ther.
Thanks so much for the inspiration that you give so freely.:)

  14. Sorry I guess that you can only email me by clicking on my name my blog address is ckr42@typepad.com if you care to check out the mini album.

  15. I just love reading your upbeat blog. Thanks for sharing your heart. I also really like the link to the Fontanini site. I think I might need to start that collection. Any suggestion on what size to start?
    thanks for all you do.

  16. Stacy -
I’m a Fontanini Fan, too. DS has a growing collection. My sis, his godmother, adds to it every Christmas, and I do the same for her DD, my sweet goddaughter. In fact, I just pulled it from the closet, so DS and I will set it up tonight. The wise men’s tent is way cool! Has a light! Ah, the delights of the season!

  17. Holy Cow! You did a lot of great things all in one weekend! I am new to checking out your blog and I have to say I think it is pretty darn cute from what I have seen and read so far! Fab I say! Oh and the snowman… just charming! Love it! Have a great day!

I got HAPPY MAIL!!! I was so excited to see it in my box. Thank you so much. I’m going to have my husband take a picture of me with it and I’ll send it to you! Thanks so much….it made my day!!!

Hi Stacy! I live in Spokane and have ALWAYS hoped somehow I’d run into you SOMEWHERE, but never have. :o( My Dad lives in Liberty Lake and I’ve thought someday I’ll run into her… not yet! Don’t know what I’ll say, but if a stranger runs up and hugs you, it’ll be me. Thanks for making it ok to not follow all the hippest trends in scrapbooking, time consuming techniques, etc. I love that it’s ok for me to be ME in my scrapbooks and have my OWN style whether it’s IN style or not.
    Thanks, Stacy!
P.S. My 5-year old loved the snow today too!!

  20. I got THE BIG PICTURE yesterday, and it was signed too! started to delve in, but had to pull away to start to pack for a week long trip to visit family in Michigan…yep, heading towards the snow and leaving the rain behind in Oregon. My daughter, Grace, and husband, Rob will be leaving some little snowmen/women behind. ;)
Can’t wait to be let in on the big secret…very intriging.
