Girls Just Want …

to have FUN and we did!

Here’s some highlights of my trip to the Mesa Scrapbook Convention and my “Girls Weekend”

Orange Trees — I wonder if when people see apple trees for the first time they get as excited as I did over these — somehow I think citrus trees are just a tad cooler.

Allison — so good to see her. We picked up this issue of Newsweek and had a little fun. Women who can’t sleep — or is it women who sign up for way too much and choose not to sleep, so they can get more done?!

Got to see Aunt Shirley again — it’s been awhile and I really like her. In fact, she’s my favorite! Thinking maybe she should come liver closer to me (wink.)

got to hang with my two very cute, twenty-something sisters — Chanda made Darci a catcus birthday cake. Come back tomorrow and I’ll show you pics of their cutest little girls. There is something very unexpected and very wonderful about holding babies — especially if they belong to your sisters!

Speaking of women who can’t sleep. I look so tired!!!

More later …
Did I mention I’m going to the Emmy’s on Friday. Got a dress, borrowed some jewelry [don't worry, nothing real] buying some shoes tomorrow and getting my toenails done. Details to come!

  1. Looks like you guys had fun! It was so good to see you!
    Enjoy the Emmy’s!

  2. Wow…the Emmy’s! Have fun!

  3. We used to always get ‘shaped’ cakes for our birthdays – I think I stole mom’s set of directions sometime back when. And I had a lion cake for my 30th! (that was a LONG time ago).
You do look tired, but very happy (perhaps even altogether too happy….)
And how sad is this…where you wrote ‘goping to the Emmy’s’ I thought “who’s Emmy? Did I miss a post about a special family member?” Ok THOSE Emmy’s. Too cool. Do you need a date? Or maybe a personal assistant, y’know, to carry your cell phone and keep the press at bay? I can SO do that…

  4. Great photos, sleep deprived and all. It’s so cool that you all get to spend time together. What a gift. and the Emmy’s sound like too much fun. Don’t forget to turn and show your booty on the red carpet. That’s was the big names do.

  5. The Emmy’s?! Wow – that’s SO much fun! Hope you have the most glamorous of times…

  6. Sisters are the best, aren’t they? There’s just no one else on earth like your very own sisters :)

  7. Ria Dixon says:

I was just 10 years old when I saw my first orange tree and still love them to this day! I now live in “apple” country and love them as well!

  8. Meredith Shepherd says:

I have a photo of my mother picking her first orange in 1966 – she’s from ENGLAND so it was a true novelty. I had my hubby take the same photo of me and he was all worried that we’d get in trouble for picking without permision. AND this year a pic of my son with the first oranges off our very own tree. Guess I should make some “connections” and get those emotions on a page. Thanks for the inspiration.
As for the sleep photo! Too funny. We subscribe & I was reading it and left it open to the photo with the wife sleeping next to her husband – only his head is a megaphone. Kent looked at it and says…”Hey is this supposed to be me?” I cut it out and said If the megaphone fits… Might make a good journal entry.
Have a good day! And as my mother used to say… “Don’t over-do.”

  11. Glad you had fun with your family. Can’t wait to hear more about your trip to the Emmys!

  12. Stacy Julian you did change my life with core composition! Thanks for the hug in Mesa it was a highlight of my visit to Mesa. I had such good time with my two girlfriends and we wish you would come to Denver. We do not have orange trees but the Rocky Mountains can take your breath a way. Any plans to have a core composition class on Big Picture Scrapbooking. Too bad I loan my copy to a friend who lost it. Still sad! but meeting you and getting the hug has almost made up for it.

  13. I’m glad I got to meet you at the Mesa convention! I’m finally posting something finally! :) No more blog stalking for me. hehe
