love this …

"Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who are alive.”
                                                               Howard Thurman

Off on my annual school shopping day with Clark (so fun.) I even made a little scrapbook to give him from a very cool "box book" accordion album by Teresa Collins/Junkitz. You’ll get to see it in the Jan/Feb issue of SS.

love this too …

created by my friend Elizabeth Woodford, busy  mother of two and an attorney.
Love how in spite of all she has to do, she looked past the to-do list and the order of scrapbook things long enough to capture with color and feeling, words that resonated with her. This layout will do more than just take it’s spot in an album, it remind her how it felt to not "put off " something that didn’t ring, cry or have someone else’s deadline attached, something that nonetheless felt urgent and important to her.

Not sure that makes sense, but I believe this page will give Elizabeth the strength to make other balance-preserving decisions later on — and that’s good stuff.

Do something today that makes you feel alive — OK?

What a wonderful thing! This post makes me feel good inside. Thanks for that.

  7. Thank you for sharing this. Just when you start to think your life is nothing but a mundane “to do” list, someone opens your eyes. Thanks to you and to Elizabeth for opening my eyes today…my life is not just a series of deadlines and business trips and to do lists…it’s OVERLY blessed and OVERLY FULL with a terrific husband and two beautiful little girls who would much rather live in a not so perfectly clean house and get to spend time with me than live in a perfect showplace and never get to do anything together as a family. Let’s all just put off the chores this week and have a play date with our families! After all, the house will still need to be cleaned when we’re 84.
