Is for someone that you want to introduce to scrapbooking. We all know someone — they think they don’t have time or aren’t the "creative" type. Whatever — give them this and if you are really generous, a subscription to SS mag too (but for sure give them this …)
#8 Beautiful Basics
If you haven’t yet had a chance to see this book, one word: Beautiful. I’m totally serious.
This book features 8 stellar scrapbookers, who have made the conscious choice to simplify — both from a design standpoint and the perspective of scrapbooking what feels urgent and important. These women (Karen Glenn, Kim Morgan, Beth Proudfoot, Rebecca Cooper, Barbara Carroll, Candice Palmer, Margaret Scarborough and Carrie Owens) have consistently inspired our editorial team with fresh, innovative ideas and designs that are 100% doable. Not only will you see their beautiful pages, you’ll get insight into their very individual approaches to photography, journaling and design. OK, and it gets better — are you ready? This book comes with a mini-album — it’s a book and a kit all wrapped up together. And the mini-album is totally cute (meaning not hoaky — is that a word?) It’s a "Me" book, ready to punch out, assemble and personalize and it’s why I’m putting it on my 12 Days list as a "must-give" holiday present. Brimming with encouragment and non-intimidating ideas — it is my current choice for "beginners." It really should be in Costco – man, I gotta work on that!
one more thing — have you been to the new SS Studio Blog? Wendy is managing it and it’s a place where you can get to know our editorial board and other key designers. Anything Wendy does is fun — so you should go. Read through her recent posts, as she introduces several of what we like to call the "Beautiful Basics Babes"

Well, I almost got your suggestion right… I bought my sister your book, The Big Pictute, and a subscription to Simple Scrapbooks… I guess Beautiful Basics is another one for me.
Put me on the list for a fan of The Big Picture too! I did get Beautiful Basics, but I think both are very gift-worthy.
Your book helped me change some anal-retentive tendencies with chronology, and I’m having fun with scrapbooking again!
Stacy – I just recently found your blog, which has lead me to all kinds of blogs out there that I did not know existed. To spur my creativity and my put-offishness (it that a word?)I have recently signed up for 3 Big Picture Scrapbooking workshops – including Heidi Swapps A Year to Remember, your Library of Memories, Lisa Flanagan’s 12 Days of Christmas, and to jump off into digital, I have signed up for Renee Pearson’s Brushworks. That is a whole plate full, but I am so excited to be doing all of these workshops. And finding all of these blogs, especially yours, has really awakened my creative spirit. Thanks you so much for the kick I really needed!
I was looking for a scrapbooking gift for my husband, Damon, as he is really getting into the hobby. This will be perfect for him.
that book looks GREAT! Can’t wait to see it IRL.
