more on the Memory Works Retreat …

and let me start with the fact that I love the word retreat – to me it means to step back and take a breath; look around, figure out where you are and then figure out where you are going and decide if and how you need to alter your direction. Retreat also suggests escape and who doesn’t love to do that from time to time!
I think early summer is the perfect time to both retreat and escape and I’m thrilled to be speaking and participating in this weekend getaway that is NOW open for registration and open for everyone!

When: June 19-21, 2008
Where: Davis Conference Center, Layton, Utah
How Much: $299 per person
and …

Why: You need to prioritize your creative process and put time and effort into sustaining your commitment to and enthusiasm for this hobby. You need to …
    REconnect
    REcommit
    REfresh
    REfocus (this is my keynote!)
    REcreate
    REenergize

I love the words Amber has used to describe the various elements of this weekend. I support her 100% and love that she has found a corner of the world to influence and that she is doing it with such class.
Basic Grey, Cosmo Cricket, Fancy Pants Designs, My Mind’s Eye, Scenic Route, Daisy D’s, We R Memory Keepers, 3 Bugs in a Rug and Prism Papers are all sponsors!

Now, about yesterday … all statements were true (I posted so quickly that I forgot to make something up — sorry!) #1 was a bit iffy simply because Spokane did not get the "it’s spring" memo back on the 20th of March At the moment that I was posting, the sun was out. Our forecast for this weekend is actually very spring-like, however I am now in Calgary, where almost a foot of snow fell this morning (canceling my original flight!)
I am here and safe and very sleepy … so much more than this will have to wait.

I subscribed btw, to Runner’s World (I didn’t see a winner) I subscribed in large part because of the extended winter we have had, and the fact that I need to reconnect to my inner-runner. I have been out a bit lately and I love it, but I need some information and inspiration to filter through my brain and down into my toes — I’ve still got my holiday "7" and it’s almost May! I love magazines and find that even the words in an ad can do the trick (on page 3, for New Balance)

Today you almost broke up with RUNNING. Today RUNNING shook you out of bed and into the deep, dark cold. Today, once again, around mile 2, lungs full of air, pupils full of sunrise, you remembered,

"Oh yeah, this is why we got together."

love that. If you have a second, check out the fun Love/Hate campaign on their website. Come on, I know you’re curious.

And for the record, I want to subscribe to Stephanie’s very pretty Home and Heart magazine — if it becomes a magazine. Right now, it’s a quarterly special issue. But this girl (founding editor) is so fun and so passionate and so caring and so talented that I’d REALLY like to see her have this "dream come true"

If you want to help, be sure to purchase the May issue. It’s not exactly a "start up" economy right now, but let’s show our support and see if we can make it happen.
The official website is here, but there’s more to read and explore right now on Stephanie’s blog!!

ok, officially toast.
night. night.

  3. Delurking to say hi officially, and to invite you to check out my 1000th post!
There’s a giveaway and some linky love to share my favorite blogs (and yours is one of them)!!

  4. Welcome to Alberta! I happen to be north of you in Edmonton, but grew up south of you in Lethbridge. Calgary was always the big city to go and visit – so much to see. I hope you enjoy your visit to our nice “warm” climate – you saw snow yesterday, but will surely see sun tomorrow! Hope you enjoy your visit and find inspiration in our sunshine!

  6. I will be one of the lucky attendees at the Memory Works Retreat and was so excited when Amber shared with us that you were going to be present – cause you are the only scrapping celeb I have ever wanted to meet IRL!
I LOVE Calgary (snow and all ) and used to visit it often when I lived in Saskatchewan (just to the west). Hope your flight finally took off.

  7. I just subscribed to RW myself. Cannot wait to get my first issue!

  8. Laura Lee says:

That is such a funny thing to hear it is going to be in Layton. I lived there from 1990 to 1992 in the Quail Cove apartments before we made it to base housing on Hill AFB. Wish I could come just to see all the changes I know the beautiful area has gone through. :)
Have fun Stacy and enjoy the scenery for me! :)
    Hugs,

  10. Hey Stacy!
Getting RW will definitely get your juices flowing – very inspirational. I’ve also found that finding a race will do the trick. Find one that’s a challenge (marathon!) in a place you want to visit and start training (HalHigdon.com has the best training plans). Of course, nice spring weather can’t hurt either! Good luck and go slow! Vickie :)

  11. i learned that packing tape transfer trick at the inspired workshop this past weekend & i’ve been cutting stuff out of magazines ever since – you could use the trick on your quote. its super easy – i learned it from stephanie mcatee.
