Simple Summer Gallery Challenge #3 “edited”

Stacy's Simple Summer Gallery Challenge #3
Dedicate your journaling to someone you love.

This one is easy, so don't make it hard.
Find a photo of someone you love
Decide where on a piece of cardstock your photo will sit
Determine where your journaling will go
Sit down at your computer and start typing (in a text box)
Write as if you were talking to this person (don't edit too much!)
Now print
Stick the photo down
Add an embellishment (100% optional)

Most important, read what you wrote to the special somebody (call them if you have to)

Enjoy.

and, check out the new creatingkeepsakes.com
and the new simple scrapbooks area. I'm still working on my profile and all that stuff, but I should be up and running soon …

and the summer gallery challenge is up now. Find it here, on the "old" simple site.

    Stacy,
I’ve read Photo Freedom and have been working for the past 6 months on implementing your system. I NEVER thought I’d break out of the chronological based scrapbooking, even while feeling weighed down by it. I love to scrapbook again!
Where I am making no progress is w/my digital photos. I switched to digital 2 yrs ago and since then I have only a limited number of photos printed. I’m overwhelmed with finding a system that works. I use IPhoto and have albums for each month. I thought about switching to seasons, like you recommended but I still don’t know how to manage them. Each month has 200-400 pics and I can’t bare to delete so many. I suppose I do take too many.
How do you know what you order? How often? and How many? Do you just upload and order the entire season’s folder? If it’s a favorite do you just order it enlarged from the start? How do you keep track of page ideas for pictures before you get them. I look at the pictures on IPhoto, get an idea and then by the time I get it, I don’t even remember. I know I’m asking so much here but getting a good system in place w/ Iphoto is my hanging me up. How do you do it?
    Thanks so much,
    Isabel

    Good morning Stacey,
I so enjoy reading your blogs and all the scrapbook info you share. I also get some pleasure from the fact that my husband, son and I lived in Spokane from 1995 – 2000 – we LOVED it there and still come back once a year to see the lifelong friends we made while were there. We lived in Mead and although it looks like that’s NOT where you live, everytime you post Spokane pictures I obssess over every little detail.
That said, I’m actually writing you because I’m having one of those OCD moments that seems to come to me more and more lately – assume it’s age!
I think – THINK being the key word – that you posted a picture of a book shelf in your house – it was dark wood, perhaps black, and it was low to the ground, rectangular shaped with “cubby holes.” I have gone through months of your old posts and I cant’ find it but I’ve convinced myself it was you. Can you tell me if it was, indeed, you or if I’ve just lost my mind? And, if it is you, could you please tell me where you got it. At this point I’ve found a bookshelf that is similar and will work but now I’ve gotten myself into that place where I am determined to remember/find where I originally saw it! Waste of time? Absolutely – yet here I am, writing you!
Have a wonderful day in Spokane! Cindy Gordon

    Hi Stacy,
Love your blog, and all the questions from other readers. Here is one from me: what kind of camera do you use??
I’m looking for a new compact digital camera and have read about 1000 reviews and now I’m tired of it, many people complain about picture quality which is the most important thing, so now I thought I would ask an expert instead!
    Thank you,
    Lisa Boland

  11. My daughter Ally & I did this challenge together, thanks!

  12. GREAT Layouts you & Stephanie did…….will have to try this out as I have some “one of a kind” photos that deserve to journalled.
    THANKS!!!

  13. Thanks for sharing your LO of you and Clark. My 15 yr old ds is on a mission trip and I want to make a LO or two of him before he gets back. I think this challenge is perfect, because sadly enough, most of my LO’s are event based. I was afraid to sound dorky if people were to read it. Now I don’t care what anyone else may think; I want to make sure he knows, without a doubt, how much he is loved. Thanks for the inspiration!

  14. Stacy,
I’ve been on vacation and spent a good deal of it reading your ‘Photo Freedom’ book. Loved it and am planning to use the next couple of weeks adapting your ideas for my photo closet (yes, closet full of pics!). Thanks. Also, love this challenge and plan on doing 5 of them, one for each of my children. Again, thanks.

  15. Hi Stacy,
I wanted to let you know that today I found the WRMK 8×8 linen post albums at TJ Maxx here in Massachusetts for $3.99! What a bargain!
I don’t know if you have a TJ Maxx or Marshalls out on the west coast but wanted you to know since these albums were discussed in your LOM 2008 class.
    Take care!
