random stuff on a Thursday

Feeling a little unsettled, but very excited …

where all the stuff in the dining room and music/memory room should go.
YEAH. I'm getting new carpet.
Our mistake. We just didn't get the right color or style when we built our home. Since we have carpet connections (Paula's husband is vice president of sales at Shaw) we are very luckily replacing the original carpet in the living room, master bedroom and up the stairs!

This means that the "flow" at home is slight interrupted today, as one tries to squeeze by large pieces of furniture that are blocking all sorts of essentials like underwear and silverware.

Speaking of Paula … Paula has been purging and would really like to share! Visit her blog to make yourself eligible for several days of giveaways!

And, there's another giveaway too. This is one of the pages I made with my November Cocoa Daisy kit. If you haven't yet registered for my FREE Cocoa, Daisies and Stacy class at BPS, now is the time. Tricia at Cocoa Daisy has some additional product kits available. We are really excited to be teaming up with Tricia, as so many of our students have asked for kitted product. We (BPS) are exploring and testing the partnership and hoping to provide several ongoing project classes tied to product. So, GO … sign up for the FREE class and order a kit. Ali Edwards developed our first kit class and Kelli Crowe is working on one for March (yippy!) … we are anxious for you to create these projects and give us feedback on the whole process.

In other news, one of my favorite photographers, Brian Smith (who contracts for CKMedia in the photo studio) has received a wonderful honor from Getty Images. Brian shot my studio for Wendy's book a couple of years ago and I'm hoping to talk him into a few more things upcoming! In anycase, follow this link to enjoy some of his amazing still life photos. He makes ordinary things like Q-tips and string absolutely beautiful. Go for some inspiration.

And finally … on the Library of Memories front. The information for registering as an alumni has NOT gone out yet. Don't worry — we are saving you ALL a spot. I am spending 30 minutes a day on my personal system. Yesterday, I came across this FUN photo …

Ivars

I LOVE having printed pictures at my beck and call. This is my new favorite and every time I flip by it in my Fall 2008 storage binder, I have that magical feeling of anticipation. I can't wait to "see" what it becomes.

  11. It’s a good thing I have our big annual Crop Retreat this weekend to keep me occupied! I am SO psyched to get started with LOM, I can hardly stand it. I may be a real ‘hand-holder’ at first, though. But that is why I am taking the class…to push myself to learn new skills and to get myself around people who can answer my questions. Can’t wait! Can’t wait! Can’t wait!

  12. Thanks for the inspiration to keep sorting photos! I made it 3/4 of the way and sort of rain outta steam on the pre class assignment. Will get going again! Thanks! :) And great photo!

  13. Oh stacy!!! I know just how you feel. We got new carpet and painted our family room 2 weekends ago and I still have half of the family room furnature in the living room!! I am purging and organizing as I put everything back.–plus hubby is doing it all, including fixing patches in the walls as he paints-and when he gets home from work, he doesn’t want to start working again so, we wait for the weekend.
    Love the Ivar’s photo.

  14. Are you going to write about the Phi Delta Scrappa weekend? I live in Minnesota and really wanted to go but had a conflict. Would love to hear about it.

  15. Amy McGrew says:

    Stacy,
    New carpet-how exciting!
I love the large photo you have on your wall. It looks like it is you and Geoff walking in a meadow with your chilren. It is fabulous! I would love to come on a field trip to your home! You are such an inspiration! You are never afraid to admit that you are insanely busy and,at times, overwhelemed, but you always seem to know how to keep it all together! I need to be more like you!
I saw on your blog that one of the places you would like to visit one day is Charleston, SC. This is where I now live! Come visit any time! I would love to be your host!
    Enjoy your weekend!
    SMiles,
    Amy

  18. Who took that gorgeous photo of your family??? Love it! Waiting for my new carpet over here, too… heavy duty stuff for the playroom.

  19. Can I ask where you purchased the large canvas picture? I would love to make one of these for my parents with all the grandkids!!
    Thanks!

  20. Stacy,
I am so excited to start your class, but have to admit I am a bit nervous about printing my photos. I have been trying to simplify life/stuff. I just received the welcome packet. LOVE IT!!!
