so much to do …

and so little time.
I'm having one of those days, where I'm finding it very hard to buckle down and get my work done. This happens to me when I leave and then return. I think the very act of reentering my space (my home, my office, etc) after being away allows me to see things (Ok, let's be honest, by things I mean piles and unfinished projects) I had become too familiar and comfortable with. I reenter and start making new mental and physical lists for EVERYTHING I want to do and then I get overwhelmed.

Anyway, today I'm struggling with the focus thing. enough of that.

Many of my friends and colleagues are at CHA this week — while I'm not missing being away from home. I am missing the energy that comes with seeing new product and reconnecting with old friends.

In case you haven't seen the product that Donna is introducing …
6a00d83451929069e2010536e1f062970b-800wi
it is pretty much the CUTEST thing I have ever seen.

I am not blogging about it b/c she asked me to — I am blogging about it because I am continually amazed by her and so totally and completing proud of her!!!

6a00d83451929069e2010536eb6042970c-800wi

btw … it's a fabric scrapbook. Read more on Donna's blog.

In celebration of Donna and all that she brings to our lives … what do you say I give away a copy of her "Fabric Scrapbooking" how-to book. I've had a giveaway copy for many months and I'm in a mood for some FUN. Leave me a comment, completing this statement with the most appropriate mutiple choice response:

I have …

A. never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking (not including ribbon.)
B. made an attempt at incorporating fabric into my scrapbooking.
C. created an actual fabric scrapbook with fabric embellishments, etc..
D. used and continue to use fabric ALL the time. Can't get enough of it. LOVE it.

I'm just curious. It looks like so much FUN.
Winner selected on Friday morning.

    Thanks Stacy!

I heat embossed navy blue silk velvet with large snowflakes. Used the velvet to make a large matte for my holiday album title page. I am working on my daughter’s baby album and keep thinking about using pink netting/tulle and embroidering some organdy. We’ll see how far I get. Thanks for the fun giveaway!

  27. I have …
    A. never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking (not including ribbon.)
I saw this new stuff on Donna’s blog and thought – maybe it’s time I start branching out. :)

  28. A.
But I would love to try and I love Donna’s stuff. But I don’t have sewing machine and don’t like to hand stitch. So this pre-made book would be perfect.

  29. A. never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking (not including ribbon.)
But i really need to learn. so i need the book. lol!

  30. B. I guess as I have used ribbon but not fabric. So thanks to you & Donna for making me curious enough to learn how to kind of sew…basically stright lines…but I am learning!

What a great way to get my wheels turning!

  45. I have …
    A. never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking (not including ribbon.)
However, I have thought of it many times, and would love too.
I’ve been thinking of cutting my children old clothes and using them in LO’s. I’m just looking through all their old clothes now to get them organized for my first grandchild, and my youngest who needs her big sister 2 yr clothes pulled out for her for spring/summer.
I also want to get some fabric paper, like linen. It’s funny you asked because I was just wishing I had some for a LO I’m using some velvet (like paper), that would look better with linen as well.

  46. I have purchased fabric other than ribbon but don’t recall using it but that book of Donnas is a must have for sure!!!

  47. B would be the closest to my actual answer. I did go through a phase when I used fabric frequently- I’d tear it up to use it like ribbon, use it like patterned paper, and even made a felt scrapbook once upon a time. Just looking at Donna’s album is inspiring to open that fabric scrap drawer and use it again!

  48. I have …
    A. never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking (not including ribbon.)
Although I do love to sew & used to collect fabric like I now collect paper. This looks so fun!!!

  49. C! My parents bought me a sewing machine a few years with back with the condition that I not use it JUST for scrapbooking. I stitched a piece of fabric to my next layout and that’s the last fabric my poor machine has seen! ;)

I made a cute little mini book last year with a felt and hand-stitched cover.
I LOVE Donna’s stuff – both the fabric and paint elements are so different and unique! I really wish I had the time and supplies to break in to that. I have ordered a fabric album kit of hers and am just waiting until I can find some printable canvas …

  61. Kristine S. says:

    A) Not that I wouldnt… I just havent yet. Funny thing is that I LOVE fabric. Donna’s book may just be the touch of inspiration I need to put me over the top and “Just do it”.

  62. I guess my answer is B. The only time I’ve used fabric on a page was in a class at CKC Houston in 2008. But I have been wanting to learn more about it – Donna’s stuff is too adorable for words.

  63. A.
Donna Downey is one of the most inspirational scrapbook artists and I’m so excited to try fabric in a scrapbook!

  68. Shelly Davis says:

    A. I’ve never used fabric in my scrapbook. I have no excuse, my mom is a quilter, it should be natural. Thanks for planting the idea in my head!

  69. B but leaning towards more. I’ve wanted this book since before it came out!

  70. I have NEVER used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking! Donna is so creative…this is a great new product for scrappers!

  73. I have …
    A. never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking (not including ribbon.)
    And I’m a quilter. Sheesh!

  74. This binder just screams “Stacy Julian” somehow. I would have to go with A. never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking. Funny thing is, I am totally into textiles and love to sew. Why have I never married my two loves? I think it is time.
I have to ditto on the focus thing. We are in an “ice storm” in Oklahoma. I have struggled all day with getting to my to do list and being productive. Maybe I’ll put it together tomorrow.

  75. Julie Roberson says:

    I have….
    B. made an attempt at incorporating fabric in my scrapbooking.
However, it’s only been ribbon and very small amts at that. So, this concept intrigues me!

  79. I have..
    B. made an attempt at incorporating fabric into my scrapbooking
I cover binders with fabric to make my own albums, but I’ve never used fabric on my pages. (Ribbon, yes. Stitching, yes. Fabric, not yet!)
My mother-in-law is a quilter and would love to send me fabric she’s not using anymore. I’ve seen some cute flowers made with fabric that I’d love to try. I’d love a copy of that book — it would make both me and my mother-in-law very happy!

  80. B I entered a challenge once where you had to use fabric. I have ideas just not enough time. That fabric book is so fun looking!

  81. Shannon C says:

Hi Stacy. I saw Donna’s new goodies on her blog- OMG- so very cool. I think this book would be great foe someone like me who is crafty- challenged when it comes to sewing. I have tried to use fabric in my scrapbooks, but have not like the effect. So, my answer would be “B”.

  82. A-unfortunately….that is super cute!

  83. I have …
    A. never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking (not including ribbon.)
I have been so inspired by you all and even mentioned Donna’s art in one of my recent blog posts. I am just CRAVING something like this. I would love to have the chance at this!

  84. Jane Thorpe says:

A!!! But now I WANT to!!!!! What a DARLING little album!!! It’s a little bit of Springtime in the midst of all this cold and snow!

  85. A – unfortunately. That book is super cute! I’d love to win it!

  86. I have never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking….except ribbon. I love the idea, just never have figured out how to implement it. Maybe that book is for me!! :)

  87. Michelle Smith says:

    A. Never used fabric of any find in scrapbooking (not including ribbon). I guess I’m just chicken, but boy does this album look CUTE!

  88. (A – Never used any fabric)
But more importantly…I’m so glad I’m not the only one that wears myself out with my todo lists!

  89. I have made an attempt at incorporating fabric into my scrapbooking. What I mean by making an attempt is that I actually purchased some really cute fabric pieces just for that purpose like a year ago and STILL have not used it. Having a fabric scrapbook would be fabulous. Thanks for the opportunity:)

  90. B. but just because I was lucky enough to get into one of Donna’s classes last year while she was in Rockwall TX. LOVED IT! She is an awesome presenter and I learned alot. I bought some small pieces of fabric Sunday at Hancocks and I plan to make a valentine mini from it.

  91. Judy Grubbs says:

never used any kind of fabric
    (but I would like to)

  92. I have…never used fabric in my scrapbooks. Even when awhile ago there were some stiffend fabric papers out there – they are still sitting in my stash. Would love a copy of this book to get me motivated to give it a try!!

  93. I have made an attempt, if you can call it that, I put a swatch in the baby book from the valance I hung in the nursery.

  94. I love your new blog subtitle! And I’m totally with you on noticing the piles when you’ve been away from them. :P
My answer is B. I had my eye on this book before it was available, and then I kind of forgot about it. I really, really love fabric, but it kind of intimidates me. I’m sure Donna makes it seem not so scary.

  95. kreativekate says:

I have never used fabric in my scrapbooks, though I have stitched a lot of things!

    A. never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking (not including ribbon.)
    Why, I don’t know. *wink*

  99. B. I used a piece of camo fabric from a torn shirt for a page about my son hunting. Everyone that saw the paged loved the look of the fabric.

  100. I am an “A” girl. Though I do haved a collection that I WANT to use! (Hmm 2 years managing a fabric store will do that!)
I too am missing CHA… and connecting with friends, but it is so very good to be at home

  101. I have never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking (not including ribbon), even though I love walking through fabric stores and my mom was a home economics teacher. I can’t sew to save my life.

  102. I have …
    B. made an attempt at incorporating fabric into my scrapbooking.
And I want some of that new Donna stuff so bad I can hardly STAND it!

  103. A. never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking (not including ribbon.)
    I’m ready though!

  104. A. Never used fabric. Wouldn’t know where to begin. And yet, I used to be a quilter and I have a box put away of the most fabulous Hoffman and Bali Batik print fabrics. Maybe with that book I could find a new life for them?

  105. I am an A girl. I had some fabric and wanted to use it but it just wasn’t working out. I have a sewing machine and want to use that too, but that would mean I’d have to get it out and set it up! LOL (and then take it down so the kidlets don’t destroy it.)

  106. B. made an attempt at incorporating fabric into my scrapbooking. Of course when I say this I truly mean that the only “fabric” elements I’ve ever used on pages have been ribbon, twill or fiber. Actual fabric like what you sew with has never actually made it into my scrapbooking…YET!

  107. Nicole from Maryland says:

    B- made an attempt!
I actually did make a book with a fabric cover- of course, it was at a class Donna was teaching :) I always love the look of fabric on scrapbook pages- I imagine it’s a bit more expensive to hoard fabric than scrapbook paper though!

  108. B. made an attempt at incorporating fabric into my scrapbooking. I think Donna is terrific!

  109. a) i have never used fabric…..but i’m loving her stuff and i think it might be time!

  110. Count me as an “A” – never tried it myself, but dang, that is one cute album! (will this involve sewing [?], because I don’t own a sewing machine…but I have been known to take out embroidery floss on rare occasion to a paper page. ;) )

  111. I need to get my hands on this book. I LOVE fabric but have never used it in my scrapbooking…that opens up a whole world of possibilities… :)

  112. A. Never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking (not including fabric).
I love the way fabric looks on a scrapbook page when I see one but I have yet to try. I need a little push.
The album is so…….cute! Great Job Donna!

  113. b. made an attempt at incorporating fabric into my scrapbooking
I only sew by hand, not by machine…and I could so use some help and inspiration :)

  114. Deb Jones says:

I have…B. Made an attempt. I sure like what I see in your picture better than what I did. Grin. I’m surprised you are not at CHA but I bet your family is glad you aren’t. How was Cathy when you left her?

  115. always wanted to use fabric on my pages but have never tried it. I even have bought a bunch of fabric to try it but haven’t gotten the nerve.
I love Donna’s work- she thinks out of the box and I would love to try this album!

I loved it, too . . . and now wonder why I didn’t ever do it again. Donna’s book rocks and is inspiring me to do more!!!

  122. Cindy McDannold says:

B, I have used fabric in my scrapbooks. Actually I was an avid quilter with an overwhelming love of fabric. Scrapping isn’t that much different, it’s still that hook that comes with love of color and pattern. I’m thankful that I can now combine the two for super satisfaction. Would love a chance at Donna’s book. Thanks for sharing. Cindy

  123. melissa thrush says:

my answer is A…love the idea and the texture is yummy. boy, do i need a pick me up….i know this would help my bloom to brighter days!

  124. “A.” I have been a bit intimidated as to how to attach it as well as wondering if it is archival/photo safe. But I love the look of it and wouldn’t mind having a go at it! After taking your “Have More Fun” class back in the summer I am way more open to trying something different like this!
    Noreen
PS…I am so looking forward to LOM starting in a couple of weeks!

  125. I have -
A – never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking.
Although I love fabric, I’m just afraid the adhesive will flow through.

  126. B for me…..

  127. A – I have ribbon just waiting to be used, but have only used it in a shadowbox, not on a page!

  128. A-never have.
A bit intimidated by seeing too many who have done it successfully.
Looks like Donna makes it approachable with her kit.
    Would love to try!

  129. B. I have tried to, but really need some help!

  130. mizwoodym says:

Ok, its B. I have used it for a couple of backgrounds, used my sons tshirts as a backgroundn on a page for his high school graduation and then if cloth ribbon counts i have used that too.

  131. I love using Fabric on scrapbooking pages. I think donna is super talented, would love to win. thanks!

  132. Susan Pease says:

C… Donna came to Virginia Beach and I made her Bloom album – started at the class and finised it at home. It is one of my favorites!

  133. I am in the A category, but Donna’s book makes me want to try!

  134. Stacy Arndt says:

A- I have never used fabric

    thanks alot :)

  136. Theresa Elliott says:

    I have:
    A. Never used any fabric! :-( Sad but true! I admire and drool over Donna’s creations, but I am almost afraid to mix fabric with traditional scrapbooking. I do not sew and would love to, so the idea of fabric seems scary. However, I REALLY want to try it and would love to win her new book!!!

  137. I have never used fabric in my scrapbooks, but it looks like oh, so much fun!

  138. Melanie C says:

  139. Kathi Carpinelli says:

B: Made an attempt. I have used felt I sewed borders on as photo mattes for Christmas photos. I have also covered vinyl scrapbooks with batting and fabric, then covered a cardboard frame with the same for the cover with the subjects picture in it. I really enjoy the way it looks and feels.

  140. B- my mom is a quilter and I am always swiping her scraps and I am trying very hard to use them in my scrapbooks.

  141. *A* I do own scraps of fabric & totally love going with my mom to the quilting store, but have never tried it on any of my pages. Donna D has made other albums with fabric, but those looked a little too advanced for me. This one looks ‘doable’ & so cute. I can’t wait.

    A. never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking (not including ribbon.) OK, I have if you include felt, but so far I have only collected bits and pieces of fabric, some old clothes with interesting bits that I think would look really cool in a SB, or it’s something that one of my kids wore that I absolutely adore. So I’m still in the hoarding stage and not in the creation stage yet.
Love this book! Yay for Donna!

  440. B. Used fabric once . . . I cut up my daughter’s swimsuit (after it was too big, it was about 18-month size) and wrapped it around a piece of square chipboard and just taped the back and adhered. It was ever-so-cute. Sometimes glimpses of fabric from clothes bring back major memories and this one was no exception. It’s on a page of her wearing the swimsuit and playing in fountains with her polkadot swimmie and pudgey toddler tummy. 447. kimmikaye says:

Thanks to my dear SIL, I am now the proud owner of an older electric singer machine that has just been calling my name to try it out in my scrapping projects. Love this new creation from DD – it’s awesome, just like her stuff always is!

  474. I’d have to answer “A through C.” I’m a digi-scrapper & have done a few hybrid products.

  475. A-never have tried the fabric idea, however, gotta do a personal scrapbook on myself and I think it might be a good idea! Thanks

  476. A – would have to be my answer. I have NEVER scrapbooked before, so this would be a wonderful way to start.
    Krista in Calgary

  477. Kris Van Allen says:

    B.
Made an attempt…I had fabric paper that was retro kitchen items, and was perfect for photos of my grandmother and I making toll house cookies (with me as a 4 year old and as an adult)and her with my oldest making the same cookies. Tradition.

  478. Hmmm… I would say B because I have made fabric scrapbook covers, but mostly it would be A, because I haven’t used any on pages, though I have been wanting to. I think her book would be a wonderful inspiration! Thanks for the chance to win, and for the inspiration that you are – always ;)
    Sara

  479. My response would be A: I have never used fabric. I don’t think I have ever used felt either. In some ways it is kind of intimidating to me as I don’t sew, but I am willing to try it!

  480. My answer is A, unfortunately.
Would love to expand my horizons so hope I’m the winner.

  481. B – I’m a scrapper and a quilter but I haven’t combined the two much.

I have never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking (not including ribbon.) I get overwhelmed by all the product available out there. Just sticking with paper only is challenging enough.

  483. B. I once used some old worn out jeans from one of my boys on a layout about them. Would love to do something like that again, but need to make my sewing machine more accessible first. I’m not sure I’d purchase fabric for scrapbooking, but I love the idea of using bits of their old clothes sometimes.

  484. I have to say A, although I have experimented with strips of fabric as ribbon.

  485. I love that book! The colors are fabulous!
    I have …
    A. never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking (not including ribbon.) I’ve thought about it a time or two, but never done anything more than that!

  486. A – and this is so embarrassing, because I also sew and quilt! I have just as much fabric as I have patterned paper. Ok, well, maybe not that much . . .
Donna’s work is always so inspiring and her new products are adorable!

  487. karen Hobbs says:

I have (b) used some fabric in my scrapbooks. But I really should do more. I was fabric collector before I became a paper and sticker collector and still have a large stash! Ha! My vision is to include actual scraps of the fabrics with photos of the kids/ family in the clothes I made them!!! Of course I have the scraps of fabric but actually committing to the project…well…maybe winning a book would help!

  488. Carrianne B says:

I have …(B.) made an attempt at incorporating fabric into my scrapbooking. But it has only been ribbon – and barely that.
I guess I’m just intimidated. This scrapbook looks cool and inspiring! Thanks for sharing.

My new scrap/ quilt room that is almost finished (thanks to the great ideas and help from Wendy and Aby’s terrific book!) will hopefully fix that problem in the future. But in the meantime, I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to win Donna’s book! Thanks Stacy for the fun you bring into my life all the time. Can’t wait for LOM to start- 15 days and counting!

  562. A, but I have fabric in my stash and want to incorporate it when the time is right…

  563. I have… made an attempt at incorporating fabric into my scrapbooking. I love fabric and I love paper but it seems I use the two together mostly in other crafting projects rather than in scrapbook layouts. Don’t know why. Maybe I just need an awesome kit like Donna Downey’s to get me started.

  564. B – I think I have a few spreads somewhere with fabric. I’m now wanting to go find them as I recall using fabric. . .

(oh, you see through my pathetic challenge to the reality of “PLEASE gimme the book !!!” Gotta give credit for trying though! )

  569. For me, it’s C – I actually made the felt scrapbook Donna designed a while back – with photos printed on iron-on transfers and fat quarter fabric for the patterned “paper” part. Love it! Hope I win, and thanks for the give-away!

I’ve always felt like scrapping was a modern day version of quilting and now Donna really helps make that connection complete.

  589. A. never used any kind of fabric in my scrapbooking (not including ribbon.)
Though I did once very purposefully design a page so that the papers and design of it reflected the dress my daughter was wearing in it (yellow gingham paper with vellum over it, and the same sheer purple ribbon as her dress).

  590. B. I have tried, but by the time the page was finished, I had given up on the piece of fabric. It’s funny I never used it cause I’m really into texture!
