Take FIVE.

This is the title of the new presentation I am working on for 2009. In fact, I'm giving it today for the first time. In it I am exploring the five elements of creative rhythm — things that need our attention if we are to sustain our enthusiasm for scrapbooking or any other kind of self-expression or art, long term.

But … let's forget all the deep stuff and just celebrate the fact that I am probably going to ROCK (positive affirmation here) with FIVE things I LOVE right now.

1. This song. It's called "Crayola Doesn't Make a Color for Your
Eyes" OK, serioulsy … this is such an adorable thing. Geof and Trey
heard it in the car not too long ago and told me about it. We Googled
and now we're all humming it. Love.

2. Cute magnet or dry erase boards from Adorn It.

it's pretty obvious, but you can select from two pages of sizes and styles and then customize the frame.

3. Basic Grey Bittersweet

I played with this yesterday. I needed to do some "just because" creating to get into the swing of things.
I love the browns and *of course* the way the patterns work together. Perfect for Valentine's Day.

4. This article on Energy Management. I read this a year or more ago and came across the link in my files. Love the reminder that my energy, unlike my time is NOT linear. My energy is a cyclicle thing that requires both periods of intense engagement and intentional recovery.

If this is a new idea for you, read this.

5. This adorable doormat from Organize.com

Happy Friday.

  8. rachel in Cali. says:

I have to be honest… when I played the You Tube “crayola song”, the look on my face was a perplexed one. But by the time it was over I thought it was just so cute! That was about a half hour ago, and I just caught myself walking around the house singing (and dancing… well you can call it dancing, but it was more like moving my neck like an Egyptian!) to it. :0)
    Just had to share!
    Thanks

  13. Your “Take 5″ presentation was wonderful! It was inspirational, thoughtful and had a little fun sprinkled in. I can’t wait to get started on the acrylic album and my postcard album. They will be great reminders of what scrapbooking should be. Thanks again for coming up to freeze with us Delta Phi girls!
