Cassat Reading to Children

Cassat Reading to Children

"Smart people spend time alone. They don't fill their days with appointments from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., as many politicians and executives do. Great science does not emerge from hard logic and grinding hours. It comes from activities like chopping wood and raking leaves, preparing dinner and reading to the kids. These activities soften the rigid pace of the day's pursuits and allow all our God-given intuition to work its unlogical magic. Only then can we reach our fullest potentials. Only then can we leap from thinking to understanding."

Philip K. Howard

Perhaps this is why the best and most creative ideas come to me while I’m in the shower…TMI, I know, but seriously, it’s TRUE!!

  2. Hi Stacy, I like your last quote. I agree totally. You’ll have to check out my last post on my blog. It somewhat goes along with your quote above. Funny how things like that happen.
    Have a great day!

  3. Stacy- that is such a great quote! thank you for that. Reminded me why I just left my 6 year old, who no longer naps regularly, in my room (his quiet space) for a couple of hours. It’s just something we do everyday (especially now that he’s home from school for the summer). Makes him a better kid and me a better mommy! ANd apparently, I’m helping him be SMARTER!

  4. I love this quote and even blogged about it. Thank you so much for sharing!

I am loving this quotes. Any chance this book will turn up as a downloadable workshop at BPS?

  6. Ooooh, I like this one!

  7. ummmmm simply put…wow.

  8. This is my favourite so far – and I’m printing it to put front and center on the fridge right now!! Our children are grown, we have 4 grandchildren and I appreciate these words even more now. I will hike around the yard with M, read to S, walk to the park with H and just sit with S – instead of burning myself out by working fulltime. Thank you for sharing this!

  9. Amen sista’!
