Today …

Today is Kayce’s BIRTHDAY.

I cannot even say how I have grown to love this girl over the past several months. She now lives only 5 minutes from my house and we are working so very hard to make Big Picture Scrapbooking better and better. She is smart and caring and so totally dedicated! She deserves the very best kind of day.

Look what I had Claudine Hellmuth create for her? Super CUTE.

Today started out a bit CRAZY.

Sometimes Thursdays at BPS are like that, with new content refreshing in several classrooms, etc.. we often need to address a variety of needs for both students and teachers. We are dealing with some unanticipated bandwidth challenges which require research and added expense, so we’ve been investigating the options and are working feverishly to make decisions that will provide the most universally satisfying solution now and in the future. However, when you run an online business, your services are expected to flow 24/7 — this can be challenging. That’s all I’m going to say here, except that we so appreciate the BPS community that has supported us and allowed us to learn and grow and improve over the years. The BEST is yet to come and that is an exciting thought.

I also found out that someone has used my Twitter account to send SPAM. Believe it or not, I happen to have fond memories of SPAM (the processed meat product) from my earliest years camping by the ocean with my family — as you know, SPAM now has a whole new and entirely negative connotation and I’m experiencing that today. Hopefully have that under control.

I got a phone call from my cousin Brad, whom I have not seen in at least 4 or 5 years. He is in Spokane and now coming to dinner. I couldn’t be MORE thrilled, but dinner will now need to be prioritized differently on my “things” to do. In other words, it has to be good!

Today I’m going on a long run.

We are having one an absolutely beautiful fall day and there won’t be many left like this, so I’m headed out on a long run. I’ve been ready to go for a couple of hours, but in spite of some unexpected busyness I am NOT letting go of this. Both my body and my mind will thank me.

Today, you need to watch this.

My friend Dorothy sent me this yesterday and I believe it was a bit of a tender mercy. You can learn more at thefuntheory.com

I love what it says on their homepage: This site is dedicated to the thought that something as simple as fun is the easiest way to change people’s behaviour for the better. Be it for yourself, for the environment, or something entirely different, the only thing that matters is that it’s change for the better.

please approach something you do today with an attitude of FUN. It really does make a difference.

  1. Kasey is indeed a doll! My kids watched the fun theory many many times. Definitely food for thought!

  2. Happy Birthday Kayce!! I love your portrait! I’ve tried making a Claudine Hellmuth inspired portrait, but I’ve got a LONG way to go!

Those stairs look like so much fun! I’m all about making things fun. OK, I love the concept, but I’m terrible on the follow through. Thanks, Stacy, for the reminder. We’ve had sick kids for the past week and it’s great to have a reminder that life can be fun!

  3. That is a WONDERFUL video!!

  4. HaPpY bIrThDaY kAyCe!!! Thanks for all that both you Stacy and Kayce do to imporve BPS. I’m sure you’ll find a solution to your video problems. Thursday’s are my favourite day…new classroom material.

  6. I so agree! I have had a crazy busy day but it’s been a GOOD day. Attitude has made all the difference. Even when you have to stay home and clean you can still put on some fun music and be thankful you have a home to clean.

I really love your new site, Stacy. I’m sure I’ll be visiting often.

  7. Happy B-day Kayce! :) I hope your run went well, Stacy! :) I also hope your dinner went well also! :) Let us all know how it goes! :)

  10. Monika Wright says:

When I was in college in 1982, my suitemates and I had handdrawn signs on our doors that said Life is Great! They would be gone from our doors so many times. Either people really loved the thought and wanted it for their own, or they were grumpies. I tend to believe the fun side of it and say that they loved the thought.

Kayce, happy day…Life is Great! Pass it on.

  11. Happy Birthday to Kayce! Please tell her that I appreciate all she does.

    Have a wonderful weekend,
    Leora

Thanks for the video share. I really needed to hear that today. I’m preparing to teach a card class tomorrow and it was really feeling like drudgery. I needed that little mental push to remind me that THIS IS *FUN*!!!!!

  15. Molly McCarthy says:

    Well said.

  16. Fun.. I had a friend send a copy of that Video to me and one of my first thoughts was Hey this is a Stacy kind of video. So glad you got to watch. How true it is we all need more fun in our days!

  17. Karen Peterson says:
