I love this time of year when we get to look back and reminisce and reflect on happy memories and everyday moments.
Your *sprinkle* this week is to select and share 12 favorite photos from the past year. To make this an exercise in intuitive creativity, you are NOT going to make this task hard. For example, you won’t make yourself pick one photo from each of the last 12 months–even though that seems like a good idea. You won’t play even-Steven and make sure all the people you love are represented in your collection. You won’t attempt to force a theme or look for a specific kind of photo. What you will do is use your kitchen timer and follow these six steps:
- Create a “2009 Favorites” folder on your computer.
- Open up your digital photo library.
- Set your timer for 12 minutes and hit start.
- Scroll quickly through your photos until an image catches your eye.
- Stop and save this image to your folder.
- Continue selecting and saving until your timer beeps.
If you’re like me, you’ll end up with more than 12 images. When the time is up, look at your collection as a whole and quickly delete images until you have just twelve.
Now, think of a way to share them. You could …
- Email them to your extended family.
- Print them and display them on the fridge or back door.
- Post them to your blog or Facebook.
- Put them together on a scrapbook page.
- Use them to create a 2010 calendar.
Here are 12 photos from 2009 that I LOVE:
2009 was a good year.

Love your photos Kristie!
Love your favorites too, Stacy!
Loved this idea. But I have to admit that I took more than 12 minutes. I did pick some of my favorites. It was really tough narrowing it down. Thank you for sharing your wonderfully Simple ideas.

What a fun, fabulous idea!!!
Love this one. It was so much fun to look back through the year in pictures. I kept getting caught up in the memories though, so it took me closer to a half an hour!

Happy New Year!
I am totally loving looking at everyones favorites for the year!! This was such a great *sprinkle* Stacy!!!!!
Thanks so much this exercise. I’ve been thinking of creating a collection of photos for 2009 but the task just seemed too daunting. Limiting myself in time really helped me GET IT DONE. (I’m afraid I needed double the time but that’s still really good for me!)

What a great idea. I will try to do this on the weekend after the New Year’s Day company is gone.
Great pics by the way.
GOod stuff, Stacy. Thanks for the push in the right direction:

I actually do this either every month or every 2 months, I pick out my favorite pictures & upload them to a special album on kodakgallery.
This was such a great way to revisit 2009. Thanks for the inspiration!! Posted to the blog http://withoutfilters.blogspot.com/2009/12/favorites-of-2009.html
Do you know how TOUGH this was?! (And totally fun.) I cheated because I’d already created favorite photo folders for each month of 2009, but I still wound up with more than 12 photos. I decided to make two 6×6 photo collages with Scrapbooks etc. Quick Collages (in 15 minutes or less…another challenge) and turn them into the title page for my 2009 photo album, and will share them with family. Thanks for the inspiration Stacy!
Okay so I did the challenge, but I couldn’t bear to whittle it down to 12. I’m sorry, but that seems to be too few for our entire year. I loved doing this and hope to make in an annual New Year’s Eve tradition!

My husband and I did a similar activity on New Year’s Eve but we chose 25 pictures and didn’t have a formal time limit. I’m intrigued by your exercise though for the intuitive creativity experience, so I may just have to give it a try.
