daisy memories. (plus core’dinations cardstock)

When I saw this image in The Company Store catalog, I about flipped. This quilt looks SO MUCH like the wallpaper in my young-girl bedroom! It’s a long story and some of  you have probably heard it. The short version is that I have a wonderful mother that allowed me to embrace my happiest colors at a young age. For my 12th birthday, my bedroom was carpeted in Kelly green and my walls had daisy wallpaper. Mom’s unselfish act (these are NOT her colors) was the beginning of a life full of color for me!

Yes, I’ll be ordering this quilt.
Ahh, what I would give for a photo of that bedroom!

Challenge: Go find one, two or more photos that make you feel as light hearted and springy as these colors and put them together with spring green, buttercup yellow and white. Don’t worry if the colors in the photo don’t “match.” It will be ok — trust me.

Even Better: Use buttons. Sew them on with thread.

I can’t wait to see your creations in the i Love Color Flickr gallery!

wait, there’s more …

Last week I hinted at a new partnership that I’m very excited about. I am teaming up with team at Core’dinations cardstock to make the I Love Color blog a little more exciting. I absolutely love the way  Core’diations has introduced innovation after innovation with their cardstock line, so I asked them if they would reward one of my color-loving readers for posting an eye-catching card, page or project in the I Love Color Flickr gallery.

The answer was YES.
So, here’s how this is going to work:

On Fridays — I post a new color combination
Over the weekend — you use that combination in a creative way and post your work to our Flickr gallery
Wednesday mornings — Allison selects one of the posted projects to feature here on the blog
Soon after that — The creative person behind the featured project receives a pack of assorted cardstock ($10 retail value) in the mail from Core’dinations. This could be you.

Doesn’t that sound FUN?

I think so too.

oh! so cool! I love Core’dinations cardstock.

  2. I love this yellow and green combo and spent a good portion of my day creating a layout based on your inspiration. My photos were from a Shutterfly order that just arrived 2 days ago and on my list of ‘to scrap’. If I had chosen colors based on the photos, I probably would have gone with yellow and blue, but they worked perfectly well with this scheme and emphasize the sunshine/happiness of the moment.

  3. I love these colors and I love this cardstock, it’s so great for distressing and embossing.

  4. Barb in AK says:

I’ve never seen or touched core’dinations cardstock IRL! Just heard one of my lss got some in, so many have to take a “field trip”. Unfortunately, I am working all weekend, so won’t be scrapping too much :’(
Love the springy colors though! I so want spring to get here–and stay ;-)

  5. Rebecca Foxworth says:

What an absolute crack-up. My carpet was kelly green, also. And my walls were yellow butterflies and flowers with a touch of tangerine. Happy colors!

Reminds me not to stifle my girls’ creativity with my self-imposed decorating rules!

  6. Oh, wow, I just bought something yesterday at Wal-Mart-yellow and green-what a coincidence. I am thinking as I type. This sounds like fun! Thanks!!
