This weeks winner is Katie Scott. I promised I wasn’t biased to her daughter’s name! I just loved the page. And I love Stacy’s comment about the layout; “Wow Katie — you are right — this is an important story to tell and I LOVE how you worked with the colors to create the emotion you needed.”
This is what Katie posted about her layout… “Life Saver: Stacy Julian’s “I Love Color” blog has a prompt for doing a Mother’s Day page with colors from a dogwood tree. While I did add a vibrant green as a background color – because of the green shirt and the green grass in the pictures and because green makes me think of life which is what this layout is about – I kept to the dogwood colors for the middle part of the page – these colors made me feel thankful and sentimental. These feelings of thankfulness along with the fact that a very good friend almost lost a child to a swimming pool drowning over the weekend (Thank God that child is ok!), I remembered when my own daughter was very small and she was saved from the pool when her floaty noodle thing broke and she sank straight to the bottom. Our Angel Friend Tara didn’t miss a beat and she dove into the pool fully clothes (with cowboy boots on even!) and saved our daughter. I will be forever thankful to Tara. This was a story that really needed to be told on the pages of my scrapbook albums and even though this happened years ago, it seemed like time to tell this story. ”
