one of my favorite gifts …

I received this book from my friend Kerry for Christmas in 2007 (I think?)
I finally read it while I was on the Scrap Map cruise in November.
It is now right up there with Pride and Prejudice.

I spent the two days after Christmas watching all 6 1/2 hours of the BBC version of Jane Eyre on my new ipad.

I know.
I’m spoiled.

Today, I took my three middle boys to see Chronicles of Narnia and discovered that a NEW Jane Eyre is coming to theaters in March 2011.
What a happy thing.

So…I got one too!! How did you watch the BBC? I get the message that apple does not use adobe flash player?

  2. Oh how I envy you your “first time” with Jane Eyre! There are a handful of books I wish I had never read so I could enjoy reading them for the first time again. Jane Eyre is at the top of this list! I can’t wait to see the new adaptation in March! :)

  3. Sandie Conry says:

I’m so glad you got an iPad! Don’t you just love it? Izzie will be so proud! He talked me into it too. Have you discovered yet that you can’t watch the videos from your BPS classes? It’s so wonderful for reading the PDFs, it would be nice to watch the videos on it too. Maybe you and Kayce can figure out a way around that?

  4. I love Jane Eyre. Have you watched “Definitely, Maybe” yet? There’s a sweet story about a Jane Eyre book in there.

  5. I’m not one to read classics, somehow they just don’t hit it off with me. BUT I do love to read and I did get a Nook for Christmas from my hubby and absolutely love it!

  6. I can’t afford the iPad and I was thinking Nook color, but will I really need the color one when I know I’ll just be reading books on it? I’m think more along the lines of the Kindle3 or Nook that have the G3/WiFi. I can still check the web in b/w white if I get the urge. Glad you can get the iPad. That’s my dream tablet right there! :)

  7. Stacy, ‘so glad that you enjoyed those good books. I want to find a good one now and read. Thank you! Have fun with your I-pad. Best Wishes to you and your family in 2011!

  8. Jane Eyre is my all time favorite book. I have been teaching it to sophomores for about 10 years now. When the ads for the new movie came out, I was flooded with emails from former students telling me about it- evidently they all remember reading it with me and my great love of the book. You should check out the PBS Masterpiece theater version with Toby Stephens. It’s my favorite of all of them- and yes I own all of them.

  9. Being a mom to a VERY ACTIVE toddler, I can’t find time to read for pleasure – especially with hubby’s strange work schedule. (I used to read while using a sit-down bike at the fitness center in my pre-family life.) Blogs are the closest I get to reading for pleasure. That one IS on my list to read SOMEDAY… as well as many other books off of the Oprah’s Book Club List. Now, if only I could win the lottery and have all kinds of free time for exercise, reading, massage, traveling… Ahhh, a girl can dream, can’t she?

  10. a new Jane Eyre! How exciting! Thanks for sharing : )

  11. This is one of my all time favorite books–I don’t know how many times I’ve read it. I’ve never understood how it gets overlooked by so many in favor of Wuthering Heights.

  12. Wow! Two of my favorite things! Books (especially the two you mentioned) and anything Apple. I don’t have the ipad yet but I will. I have to replace my worn out car first. {sigh}

  13. Happy new year! So glad we got to play this year!

  14. My favourite all-time book is Jane Eyre. When I was 19, my mum took me to visit family in England and we went to the Bronte Parsonage. So cool. You really need to check it out. The shoes they wore back then, the beds they slept in. It was all so tiny and completely awesome!!! I think you would totally enjoy it.

Can’t wait for the new movie to come out too.

  15. Oh I’m so glad you got an iPad.I bought mine for work last spring and am so in love with it still. I do more and more on it! And yes, would love to be able to watch the BPC videos on it too.

We also have similar taste in novels. Can’t wait for the new Jane Eyre!

    Happy New Year!

I don’t know that I would call you spoiled – just LOVED! I’ve never tried to read Jane Eyre…I think I’ll add that to my list for 2011. Have a great new year Stacy!

  17. I love the BBC series. Isn’t he just dashing?!!! :-)

I am catching up on some blogs today thus this reply is a bit late. I am so happy for you to have read Jane Eyre. I read it in high school for English class, and I remember really loving it. I think I shall read it again since high school was more than 4 decades ago.

Stacy, I would love to be called “that woman who is altogether too happy.” I find that to be a marvelous compliment. I found you about a year ago and always wanted to tell you that.
