orange + gray

card set. felt boxes. nike.

So, this post represents the third iteration of my of-late neglected i LOVE color blog.
I have not neglected this blog because I no longer love color.
I have (as you may know) been learning to be well again and I have let many things–including lots of personal projects and expectations–go. I think I’m ready to pick this project back up, but I’ll do it in a new way and at a new pace that is far more realistic for my life right now.

Here’s how this will work:
I’ll be inspired by color.
I’ll create a page.
I’ll share the color and the page with you.

If you feel inspired by the color too, you are welcome to post something you create in my i LOVE color Flickr gallery.

There aren’t any incentives outside the delight that comes from doing something you love.
I promise not to keep any kind of schedule here.
This way we can just play and have fun as we have time and the inclination to do so.

Have FUN with this combination, I did!

  1. WOW, I really do love Orange and gray together. The Orange just POPS!!

  2. Oooo..I love this color combination. I am just diggin gray with anything these lat couple of years….the layout is great…love the span of years in the photos!

  3. that is the beauty of the blog reader, when you have something to share your blog shows in bold and I know there is something cool for me to check out.

  4. So nice to see Chase featured on a page! (I am sure you SB him, I just assume he is a little shyer than your other kids about his pix).

I did a fun thing with color the other day. I was watching one of my favorite TV shows, The Big Bang Theory. One of the characters was in bed and I LOOOOOVED her duvet. I LOOOOOOOVED the electric blue color, but also how it contrasted with the other colors (taupe, oatmeal, light olive green) in the pattern. I realized I LOOOOOVE that shade of blue. The episode was recorded so I watched it several times, and I started seeing how much that color is used by the set designers on that show. I commented to my mother how much I LOOOOOVED that color but I didn’t know how to describe it (other than blue, but it is a particular shade of blue).

On her suggestion, I stopped in a local paint store a few days later when I had some time. I looked at their chip display and found my blue color (Sherwin Williams calls it oceanside). Then I found chips that had the other colors from the duvet that I just love.

Now I have all of those paint ships with the color combo I love on them. Next time I am looking to decorate or anything, I’ll have them handy, Meanwhile, having all of them in my purse where I can pull them out and look at them whenever I want makes me very happy.

(Man, I really want that duvet she had, though. I LOVE it.)

  5. the orange looks great with the grey. Thanks for sharing, I am inspired!

  6. Yay! You’re doing this again! I’m so glad you are, I love your color inspirations. And I love that you are no longer adding incentives:) That just seemed like so much more work for you.

I love this color combination. I love orange! This is going to be fun!

  7. LOVE these 2 colors together! I’m going to try a page using them. Thanks for the idea!

  8. This combination is really nice. The gray works nicely with orange. Great layouts!

  9. Stacy I totally agree. These colors make me happy when together. I love the fence pic. It is like an old barn, just love those too.
