Friday FIVE for April 22nd, 2011

ONE.

Cool “Go Green” postage stamps. Appropriate for EARTH Day (don’t you think?)

TWO.

From Pangea Organics

The Pyreness Lavender with Cardamom Lip Balm
Trust me when I say this stuff is SO good. My friend Amy gave it to me a few years ago and I just discovered it at the back of my desk drawer when I was cleaning my studio–shocked that I didn’t realize how yummified it was before now. The good news is you can save 25% off all products for Earth Day (through April 30th)

THREE.

This quote, from the essay Creating Our Own Happiness …

image pulled from this study on happiness.
“… I believe this is something all of us can do: Try to be happy within the context of the life we are actually living. Happiness is not a situation to be longed for or a convergence of lucky happenstance. Through the power of our own minds, we can help ourselves. This I believe.”

Read the whole essay, by Wayne Coyne  here.
Thanks to those who tweeted this, so I could read it!

FOUR.

I’ve blogged about the digital templates for Library of Memories before, but they bear repeating, especially today as EVERYTHING at Scrapaholics.com is 20% in celebration of Earth Day — digital scrapbooking is after all, remarkably “green.”

and yes, we are working on the 12 x 12 templates, knowing that it is only me and maybe 33 others who actually scrapbook 8 1/2 x 11 *wink*

FIVE.

And finally … beautiful jewelry designed by my friend Michele.
Her boutique is appropriately called, Shelstring.

Among other envious traits, Michele has really cute hair—at least that’s what I thought the very first time I saw her! I later found out she attended cosmetology school, so her lovely locks were no mistake. Michele used to live in Liberty Lake, then she moved away and we lost touch. Thanks to the blogging world, we have reconnected. Shel contacted me a LOOONG time ago and offered to give one of my blog readers $40 + free shipping in her boutique (how very generous is that?)

I have selected Mary Z as this prize winner.
Mary commented on my post yesterday –
Congratulations Mary!

But wait … there’s MORE. Michele will give ALL of my blog readers 20% of a Shelstring purchase — use the comment box when ordering to tell Michele you heard about her jewelry on Stacy’s blog!

Happy Friday and Happy EARTH Day!

    Those postage stamps are cute!
I love the quote!! So true and so hard to really feel that way sometimes. i plan to share that with my kids and friends soon.
My daughter printed out the Earth day badge and pinned it to her shirt today!

  2. Thanks for sharing, Stacy, especially the stamps. I am so lucky to have an Earth Day Birthday, and my friends would tell you it’s very fitting for me. I love snail mail (even though email is probably “greener”, there’s nothing like getting some happy mail in the mail!), and reuse magazine pictures for envelopes, so I am going to my post office today to get some stamps while taking my dog for a walk. I’m also stopping by at Starbucks with my travel mug-free coffee this afternoon with a travel mug! Thanks for making my day even happier. I love Friday Five!

  3. fyi- I scrap 12×12 IRL most often but usually 8.5×11 in digi since it’s sooooo much cheaper to print that way. so I very much appreciate your smaller templates! ;-)

  4. Judy Sanza says:

When I first started scrapbooking (three years ago) my inspiration was Cathy Z and her books…..so you know I love to scrapbook 81/2 x 11 ! And I love to scrapbook “simple”. That didn’t come out right. I love simple scrapbooking.

I actually do both, but for the most part my books are fancy notebooks.

    Thanks for the “simple” !!!

  5. Damiane Lucas says:

    Hi Stacy,

I would LOVE to try your digital templates, but I don’t know how to scrapbook digitally. Will the website have a tutorial? This would be nice, as it would teach me how to use your templates.

Happy Resurrection Sunday! Wishing you a joyous weekend, for HE is risen. Oh by the way, the movie “The Ten Commandments” starring Charlton Heston will air this Saturday at 7:00 pm on your local ABC channel.

    God bless!

    • Damiane,

The templates actually come with written instruction, but I really enjoyed the tutoring of another person sitting by my side — for sure! We will (very soon) have a class at Big Picture called Scrapbooking with a Digital Template. We already have one on using and manipulating them!

And … Happy Easter (Resurrection Sunday) to you. I’ve been very reflective this year about the absolute gift of our Savior’s atonement — and naturally, The Ten Commandments will be on at our house–that’s a tradition (I should probably scrapbook it!)

  6. Kathy Jo Camacaho says:

You aren’t the only one with 81/2×11 – me too! After taking Darci’s class, and following Cathy Z, I’ve done a lot of that size in the last year. AFter putting away 126 pages yesterday into their LOM albums… I KNOW I’ve been doing 81/2 x11. I was kind of surprised. I love the mix of pages.

    • one hundred and twenty six?

WOW — Kathy Jo, this is AMAZING.
Keep up the great work girl — I love seeing your name in my comments!

  7. Love your Friday Fives! Those stamps are so cool, need to see if my post office has some. Love the quote…totally agree!

  8. Those braclets are beautiful! Thank you for sharing your 5 for friday with us :)

  9. Allison S. says:

I love when you share your favorite things, like Little Miss Matched (bought myself and my girls loads of these…they make my toes feel special!) But my absolute fave so far, and a BIG thank you, is the Fage yogurt. Oh. My. Goodness. The honey…delectable! In fact, I’m running out right now to buy some, as I’m having a major craving for it! Thanks again for sharing

    • Allison — I’m SO glad to hear you love this yogurt. It has saved many a sugar binge at my house that is for sure. Thanks too for reporting back!!

  10. I’m excited to be one of 33 people who scrap 8 1/2 x 11. I’ve tried switching but just can’t. I love the smaller size.

  11. Happy Easter

  12. Kimberly Ann says:

I’m also one of the 33 people! When I first started scrapping, it didn’t occur to me that there was anything besides 12 x 12 and I was so excited to find inspiration in you and Cathy Z. Love the 8 1/2 by 11 size and this might be the push I need to get those pages done for my LOM albums.
