My Friend Lara

On my first trip to South Africa, I told my *SPRINKLES* story and was kindly informed that sprinkles in South Africa are called “Hundreds and Thousands” — how fun and absolutely appropriate is that? After all, is that not what sprinkles are–hundreds and probably thousands of little colorful candies that you sprinkle on top of already delicious things?
I LOVE the chance I have to work in scrapbooking; to travel and meet remarkable people from all over the world. I first met Lara at an event here in the states. I remember sitting on the bed in her hotel room looking through her layouts and realizing that people from the far corners of the earth are very much the same. Lara was instrumental in inviting me to an event in Johannesburg 2005. Several months after my second visit, I emailed Lara and asked if she could help me with a *SPRINKLES* project.
A week or so later I received a box with two jars of Hundreds and Thousands and a couple of weeks after that — another box came!

My Friend Lara
Lara and so many others like her completely understand the point of what I hope becomes a giant *SPRINKLES* campaign, dedicated to discovering the hundreds and thousands of ways we can sprinkle our lives with whimsy and purpose, two words that aren’t as contradictory as you might think.
NOTE: I’ll be featuring friends like Lara from time to time on my blog. If you know someone that is *SPRINKLING* the world with goodness, let me know. Email allison@stacyjulian.com
