One Photo, Two Ways.

I love this page from our Halloween Costumes album. I’ve been adding pages to this album for more than 20 years. The idea is that I create one page, per kid, per costume each year. I still have several pages to make—and I will—in the meantime, I’m thinking about the opportunity I have to do things differently, or to at least give myself permission to revisit and re-tell stories when it makes sense. When I pulled the Halloween book down this year and flipped through it, this page—this photo— jumped out at me. I mean, look at those CUTE boys!
Where did they go?
Technically I know where they are, but where did this time in my life go? As I thought about the page-making I did and how pleased I was with it— the trick-or-treat sized 3Musketeers bars, the clever “All For One and One For All” title—the cool velvety fabric paper that I mounted the photo to (I’m noticing as I write this that that may not have been the best idea—the photo is not well adhered and has slipped) I think to myself, there is so much MORE (now) that I want to say …

… and that’s when it dawns on me. I can. I absolutely CAN tell more story—that’s what Stories I Love is all about. More story. I love the idea of creating a Stories I Love album filled with random holiday memories and eventually perhaps a full album dedicated just to Halloween.

YOU can scrapbook and tell your stories in so many ways. I hope you’ll never NOT do something you want to do because that’s not the way you started to do it—clear as mud! Just because we set out one way does not mean we can’t switch gears or simply take another approach. We have stories. Let’s tell them in any way we want to.

Happy Halloween!
